- Risk-based prioritization: Prioritize items that address high-risk areas first. This could include things like security vulnerabilities or regulatory compliance.
- Dependency-based prioritization: Prioritize items that have dependencies on other items first. This ensures that the necessary work is completed in order for other items to move forward.
- Cost-benefit analysis: Prioritize items based on the effort required to complete them versus the value they will bring.
- Stakeholder input: Consider the priorities of different stakeholders (e.g. customers, business leaders, developers) and weigh their input when prioritizing items in the backlog.
